Most offices get a daily or weekly surface clean — desks wiped, bins emptied, floors vacuumed. But this routine maintenance is not the same as a deep clean, and skipping the latter has real consequences.
What counts as a deep clean? A commercial deep clean covers everything a standard clean misses: upholstered seating, air vents, behind and under furniture, communal kitchen appliances, and high-touch surfaces like light switches, door handles, and lift buttons.
Recommended frequency:
- Small offices (under 10 people): every 3–6 months
- Medium offices (10–50 people): every 6–8 weeks
- Large open-plan offices: monthly
- High-traffic customer-facing spaces: fortnightly
What happens if you skip it? Bacteria and viruses survive on hard surfaces for up to 72 hours. Shared keyboards harbour more bacteria per square centimetre than a toilet seat. Beyond hygiene, a visibly grimy workspace negatively affects staff morale and creates a poor impression on clients.
Our recommendation: schedule a professional deep clean at least once a quarter, and increase frequency during cold and flu season. It's one of the highest-return investments you can make in your team's productivity.
